I expected to read a book with a main focus on Callie and being born a hermaphrodite with supporting histories spanning the 8 decades the synopsis speaks of. However, what I|.com |"I was born twice: first, as a baby girl, on a remarkably smogless Detroit day in January of 1960; and then again, as a teenage boy, in an emergency room near Petoskey, Michigan, in August of 1974." And so begins Middlesex, the mesmerizing saga of
